《锻刀》讲述了在抗战爆发之前，在云南的一个山寨中发生了暴乱。一个比较崇尚武力的猎户，比较倔强的性格是非常反对自己喜欢的女人和他的仇家的一个少爷结婚的随后便来到了婚礼现场，并大大出手，也带来了多人间的武器斗争导致了这个少爷的父亲被赶出了山寨的大门，甚至差一点丢掉了性命，而这个猎户被逼无奈之下加入到了军队中并成为了军团长的部下。

随后抗战爆发了，猎户来到了最为激烈的战场，并伴随着家国情怀和薛老爷间的斗争也逐渐被冲淡，并成为了战场中的生死兄弟，最终抗战获得了胜利，猎户小伙子加入到了共产党，并且帮助他的好兄弟肖少爷摆脱了所处的困境，重新来到了全新的光明大陆中。故事讲述的极为热血，对人物的描绘非常丰富，讲述着家国情怀间个人的恩怨并不是特别重要的事情。
